Yard Management Questions Answered
Can I use Yard Management without the full TMS?
Yes. It's designed to work completely on its own as a dedicated yard platform. You can run dock appointments, gate, trailer tracking, yard moves, and reporting without ever turning on dispatch, fuel, or any other ZuzHQ module.
What happens if I upgrade to the full TMS later?
Nothing migrates. It's the same product and the same database. When you turn on the full TMS, your existing trailers, gate logs, appointments, and customer records are already there — they simply start powering dispatch, ELD, fuel, and accounting.
Does it support carrier self-scheduling?
Yes. Carriers receive a portal link to book and reschedule their own appointments. Door capacity, labor, hazmat, and SKU rules are enforced so the slot they pick is one you can actually run.
Can it work with our existing GPS, RFID, or yard cameras?
Yes. Yard Management has integrations for major GPS, RFID, and ALPR camera providers — and a REST API for anything that isn't already covered. Trailer location and gate captures populate automatically.
How does detention work?
Detention timers start at gate-in and stop at gate-out. Customer-specific free-time rules, accessorial rates, and approval workflow are all configurable, and signed proof of timestamps attaches to every detention claim.
Does it run offline?
The guard and jockey mobile apps work offline. Gate captures, yard moves, and photos queue locally and sync as soon as connectivity returns — so a dead wifi access point doesn't stop your yard.
What yard sizes is it built for?
Everything from a single 20-trailer carrier yard to multi-site networks with thousands of trailers. The platform scales automatically — you pay for what you use and nothing is locked behind size.
How fast can I get set up?
